Safety, Health and Environment

As a production company handling volatile feedstocks and products, MBSA’s first and paramount objective is to operate in a safe manner. We also adhere to our core value of sustainability. We mean by this:

·       We start with the principle that no accident is acceptable

·       We have defined procedures for our operations that are regularly reviewed

·       We have pre defined plans to handle an accident or incident

·       We report and act on any and all incidents and near misses in a systematic manner

·       We learn from any mistake – a near miss is to be treated as seriously as an incident

·       We take the time to inform and advise any employee, contractor or visitor of any hazards

·       We make sure the required clothing and equipment to work safely is available to employees and assure it is used

·       We make sure our employees have access to basic health care services

·       We take the time to assess the impact of an action on ourselves, our neighbors and the environment and act on it

·       If there is a risk or hazard we stop what we are doing and address it

·       We work openly with any regulatory body auditing, permitting or investigating our operations

·       We always respect the regulatory frameworks within which we operate – if we deviate from a regulation we are open and honest with the issue

·       We use resources thoughtfully and efficiently

·       We understand the consequences of our waste disposal and look for ways of minimizing waste and its impact on our environment

·       Where we can, we look for practical, sustainable ways of doing things so that:

o    today does not compromise future generations

o    social development and local economical growth can coexist, with fair sharing of benefits

o    food security is promoted

o    natural resources are protected and farmers’ landrights are respected

All Managers should ensure that Mali Biocarburant’s Policy on Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability is understood and practiced by those in their teams.

All employees are responsible for the company adhering to this policy. If there is a risk or a non conformity with a procedure identified it should be raised with management.
